Organizing with Tags

Tags are a flexible, multi-dimensional way to organize your work. Unlike folders, tags allow you to connect related items across different notebooks and workspaces.

How to Create & Apply

Getting started with tags is simple and intuitive.

  • Create New Tag: Click the 'New Tag' button in the Tags Hub or simply type '#' followed by a name in any note editor.
  • Apply via Sidebar: Drag and drop any item onto a tag in your sidebar to apply it instantly.
  • Bulk Tagging: Select multiple notes or files to apply or remove tags at scale.

The Tags Hub

Manage your global taxonomy from one central location.

  • Content Pivot: Click any tag in the hub to see a unified view of every Note, Task, and File associated with that topic.
  • Color Management: Assign unique colors to your tags from our curated palette for instant visual recognition.
  • Usage Stats: Track how many items are currently using each tag to keep your workspace organized.

Workspace Awareness

Tags in Arka are context-aware and secure.

  • Personal vs Shared: Choose whether a tag is private to you or shared with your workspace team.
  • Secure Renaming: Updating a tag name automatically reflects across all linked items securely.
  • Zero-Knowledge Tags: Like all Arka content, tag names are encrypted and isolated at the workspace level.

Step-by-Step: Organizing with Tags

Build a cross-linked knowledge base with these steps:

  • Create a Tag: Go to the Tags Hub or simply type `#` inside any note to tag on the fly.
  • Categorize: Drag and drop any note or database from your list onto a tag in the sidebar.
  • Bulk Action: Select multiple items in the Notes page and select 'Add Tag' from the action bar.
  • Filter: Click any tag in your sidebar to instantly view a filtered stream of all associated content.
  • Color Code: Open Tag Settings to assign custom colors for better visual grouping.
